VISION Learners Talk with "Neighborly Neighbors"

On January 14, 2003 I went with my Mother to a Lamborn Mesa neighborly neighbor meeting. We met Christian Krupp and her mother there.  Christian and I were the guest speakers for the group of about fifteen people meeting that day, and we were there to talk about the VISION Home and Community Program.

I talked first about what I do on a normal school day...I get up and do my chores, then we do our  home classes--math, history, reading and writing.  Then I go to my other classes.  They include music, geology, acting, deejay training and botany.  The rest of the day I do my homework that I have to do for my classes.  After I finished, Christian talked about her day. She does most of her classes at home where she gets her curriculum off of a satellite, and she does some sports outside of the home.  We both answered questions the ladies asked us, like how VISION is different from regular school, how we get our funding, what a learning plan is and who and what resource consultants are.

I felt like it went well and I think the ladies all thought the talk was interesting and informative.  One participant said she was very glad to hear from us because she had no idea there even
was a VISION program.       ~Skyler Bissell

For anyone interested in educating and promoting our program this was a great way! Our learners did a great job, they could answer any question given them. They are very proud of their education and what they do and it really showed.  I think the ladies at this meeting really learned a lot. Any adult who is a member of a community group can set up this kind of talk, and our learners can do the rest!!
