Several Sign up at the Scheduling Soiree

Neil showed Kayaks cutting through river rapids on one screen while Merrylea lured stage stars with "supercalafragalistic" and other musical numbers on another.    Monart artwork in brilliant colors adorned the screens where Pam and Kathy sat, and displays of books covered the table in front of Jim Lehrman, who offered a class intriguingly entitled, "That Thou Art."  A solar oven sat on the floor next to Ed Eaton, who offered classes in solar technology as well as solar cooking.    Fencing teacher Louis Novak was ready to demonstrate technique with the supplies he brought, and newly-registered educator Peggy Robinson displayed porcelain doll heads, just one of the many things she offered to teach students to create.  Musician and music teacher Tony Peters added to the ambiance with soft guitar music.
These and other displays created an inspiring atmosphere at the third bi-annual scheduling soiree held at the Blue Sage on a Friday evening in January.  Learners and family members came to meet educators, possibly add some classes to their schedules, and get ideas about what they might want to learn in the more distant future.  Several of the sign-up sheets on the educators' tables were scribbled full of learners' names, marking a significant increase in the number of contacts established at the soiree.
The next Scheduling Soiree is planned for August, but a few people have asked if it would be possible to have one in the Spring.  If there is enough interest, why not?  Please let us know what you think.
